BIO of the artist
Following her studies in interior architecture in Brussels, she transitioned into ceramics, pursuing her passion without formal training. Motivated by a profound desire to work with materials, she embarked on a journey that explores micro-architecture, revealing a realm rich in intimacy, emotion, and sensitivity. Each piece she crafts serves as an invitation for others to with the fundamental essence of ceramics.
Artist's statement
This journey, through the quest for shapes and materials, reflects my elusive need to connect with the sensory world, where, from time to time, to my greatest joy, the beauty of things emerges.
Workshop details
This workshop invites you to shape tea vessels with awareness and precision.
We will explore three different hand-building approaches to create small bowls, allowing each participant to sense which gestures and paths feel most natural.
Over the first three days, the gestures used to build bowls will gradually evolve into those used to construct the bodies of infusers and teapots.
The infuser is an open-topped teapot—a bowl that filters and pours—occupying the space between a bowl and a teapot.
The teapot will introduce a first exploration of handles and lids.
On the fourth day, while the pieces are in the bisque firing, we will create a library of teapot components to complement the work from previous days and expand the imagination while testing technique. These elements will be taken home in their raw (unfired) state.
(Alternative spout approaches, long spouts, kiusu-style handles or grips, the creative possibilities offered by the lid, etc.)
On the fifth day, the pieces will be glazed in collaboration with Séline.
After unloading the kiln, we will test the pieces around a shared tea on the final day.
